Why Do Cats Like High Up Places?

You see your cat, as fat as he is, and you can't understand why he insists every morning to climb to the tippiest top of the tree in your backyard, just to get stuck. You look up at him as he wails miserably, hollering for a sweaty buff fire fighter to come rescue him. What's his deal, you think? Why is he so adamant about climbing up so high?

Well cats didn't always wanna be up in high places. The earliest cats much more enjoyed hiding in bushes or dark caves to escape nomadic hunters. In fact, cats never saw the point in climbing up high; their favorite food, mice, always scurried about in the dirt, so it just made more sense for them to laze about on low ground.

It wasn't until the time of the Egyptians did cats become interested in rising up to high peaks. The Egyptians worshiped their cats like Gods, and made giant pedestals and thrones for them to nap on. Some thrones were up 100 feet high. The higher the throne, the more God-like the cat was. And the cats loved being worshiped, and ever since then, it has become part of their nature to seek high posts to rest on so they can be closer to the Gods and worshiped as one. Even now a days, cats go up high looking for the same treatment. Usually, they are wailing at you not because they are frightened, but because they are upset that you are not worshiping them!

So next time fat Fluffy goes clambering up the tree, do him a favor: Bow and Worship him, praying, "Oh Mighty Kitty, To You I am Forever Indebted and Grateful!"
